Georgetown Free Bikes was created to help make Georgetown, Texas a bit nicer.
We do that by giving away bicycles.
Bicycles provide freedom to explore, allow for exercise, and provide a means to get from home to work. Most importantly, bicycles build social networks and a sense of community among residents.
Our team of dedicated volunteers work hard to meet the needs of our local community by providing bicycles to those who simply ask for one. We have chosen not to require a referral or any financial information. Instead, we rely on karma and ask that people to give a donation if possible. We analyze the rider and their needs, provide a recommendation, and let the recipient choose from our inventory. If the bicycle is already refurbished, they can take it home immediately. If not, the bicycle then goes into a work queue where it is refurbished to working order, and then given to the recipient.

We also have a group of bicycles which are available for a nominal donation to the organization. Fixing bicycles takes funding, so we offer these donation bicycles in order to raise funds to continue providing the free bicycles and helmets.
Parts
We also have a supply of helmets, lights and bicycle parts that are available. We generally outfit bicycle recipients with a helmet so they will ride safely. If they will be riding at night, we also install lights on their bike. We do not work on other people’s bikes but, If someone has a bike that needs work, we are happy to teach them how to do the work themselves. They will first learn on one of our bikes, then we will help them with their own.
Location / Hours
We are open to the public on Tuesdays from 11a-8p. No appointment is required, just stop by our workshop, at the end of the driveway, behind 2000 Dawn Drive in Georgetown and our team of volunteers will discuss your needs and do everything possible to get you rolling. Our shop is at the end of the driveway, on the left, near the wood fence. Please come in to donate, volunteer, or request a bicycle.
