We’re involved in a number of events that fulfill our mission to make Georgetown a nicer place.
GEORGETOWN, Texas (Sept. 13, 2025) — More than 300 community members gathered at Christ Lutheran Church on September 13, 2025, for the annual 9/11 Day of Service, a day focused on unity, compassion, and service. The event brought together people of all backgrounds to reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001, while taking action to foster peace and solidarity in the Georgetown community. After registration and the opening ceremony, community members headed out to their assigned project work sites. Volunteers were assigned to The Caring Place, Habitat for Humanity Georgetown, YMCA, Brookwood in Georgetown (BiG), The Assistance League Georgetown Area, The Georgetown Project, Georgetown ISD Community Relations, Yesterday’s Gone, Seeds of Strength, and Georgetown Free Bikes.
Thanks to Nancy Camacho and Melissa Seigman for communications and coordination of the event.
Volunteers that arrived at Georgetown Free Bikes helped rearrange our showroom. They also learned how to refurbish a bike using our 16 point process.
After the project work site sessions, volunteers headed back to Christ Lutheran for lunch, live music and the Never Forget booth, games and a bouncy house.

They enjoyed touring the premises, enjoyed the face painting of Mermaid Gramma for the kids and some adults – you’ll see! There was live music from Brian Mullin, a talented local musician. Who could forget the popcorn, hot dogs and cotton candy. When was the last time you had cotton candy? Thanks to all those donors, volunteers and supporters for the important mission of Georgetown Free Bikes.
