April 1, 2025 – Here’s our new sign. Easy to see and so appropriate. Scott Strance (left) and Jeff Radke, founder, proudly show off the new sign at 2055 FM1460 in Georgetown.

The new sign is a throw back to the Penny Farthing bikes of the 19th century. This name refers to the large front wheel being likened to a penny coin and the smaller rear wheel being compared to a farthing (a quarter of a penny).

March 1, 2025 – Great News! Georgetown Free Bikes is moving. While waiting to complete our new location remodel, we want to share some pictures showing the efforts of our volunteers.
Our new location is on the former Rabbit Hill School property. From 1965 to 2014, Rabbit Hill School was a creative day care. (Some of the pictures on their Facebook link represent the field trips taken to Pioneer Farm in Austin.)
Georgetown Free Bikes’ new location is 2055 FM 1460 – Georgetown, TX 78626.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Georgetown Free Bikes Expands to Landmark Location After Donating 1,000+ Bicycles to Community
GEORGETOWN, TX – March 6, 2025 – Georgetown Free Bikes (GTFB) announced today it will relocate to a spacious new facility on March 25, 2025 with a planned grand opening on April 5, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the nonprofit’s mission to transform the community through bicycle access. The organization’s remarkable growth necessitates moving from its humble beginnings in the founder’s garage to the historic former Rabbit Hill School property at 2055 FM1460, Georgetown, TX 78626.
“What started as a simple idea in a garage has blossomed into a community movement,” said Jeff Radke, founder of GTFB. “This expansion represents the incredible support we’ve received and will allow us to help even more residents experience the freedom and joy of cycling.”
Founded in late 2022, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit has achieved remarkable success with its straightforward mission: making Georgetown a nicer place by giving away bicycles. In just over two years, GTFB has distributed more than 1,000 bicycles to community members, creating lasting impacts beyond transportation:
- Health and wellness through accessible exercise opportunities
- Economic empowerment by providing reliable transportation to work
- Environmental benefits from reduced vehicle emissions
- Community building through shared cycling experiences
The volunteer-driven organization operates every Tuesday from 11 am to 8 pm, with dedicated teams receiving, refurbishing, and distributing bicycles to Georgetown residents and surrounding communities. GTFB has also established partnerships with over 20 local organizations that help extend their reach.
The move to the former Rabbit Hill School property provides GTFB with significantly expanded space for operations, bicycle storage, and community programming. This historic location gives new purpose to a beloved Georgetown landmark while preserving its community-centered legacy.
GTFB sustains its operations through community donations and a suggested donation program for premium bicycles, parts, and accessories. Current inventory is available for viewing at www.georgetownfreebikes.org/shop.
